Detroit's season-long edge in record, differential and road performance makes Pistons -2.5 too short against Orlando.

This price is too small for the season-long gap between these teams. Detroit finished 60-22 with a +8.2 differential and a 28-13 road record. Orlando finished 45-37 with a +0.6 differential. Asking the better team to clear one possession is not enough.
Detroit's baseline is stronger on both ends
The Pistons averaged 117.8 points per game, 45.6 rebounds and 10.4 steals this season. Orlando finished lower in scoring, rebounding and ball pressure while posting a much thinner point differential. That matters in a short number game because Detroit has more ways to separate than the market is crediting.
This is not a form fade
Both teams are 7-3 over their last 10, so the handicap is not built on one side running hotter than the other. It is built on the fact that Detroit's full-season profile remained far stronger across 82 games.
The road split is good enough to trust
Detroit went 28-13 away from home. This is not a team that needs its own building to hold up. Orlando is a solid 25-15 at home, but that still does not erase the wider gap in record and differential.
The matchup is clean enough to lay it
RotoWire still projects Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, Tobias Harris and Jalen Duren in Detroit's expected starting group, and Paolo Banchero is still projected in Orlando's. There is no missing-star discount distorting the number here.
Head-to-head noise is keeping the price short
Orlando leads the season series 4-3 and just won 113-105 on April 25. That matters, but it also helps explain why Detroit is being priced under one full possession despite finishing 15 wins better over the season. The broader body of work is still on the Pistons side.
Decision
Pistons -2.5 is a price play on the better season-long team. Detroit owns the stronger record, the better point differential, the better road mark and better peripheral production. If that profile only has to cover one possession, the number is light.
