Seven is not a friendly under number in MLB, so I’m not pretending this is comfortable. Twins at Mariners still sets up lower if the starters give this game a clean first half. I’m on Under 7 at -105.
At 7, I need more than a vague park lean. The listed starters are Taj Bradley for Minnesota and George Kirby for Seattle at T-Mobile Park, and both have enough season-long run prevention to make this total playable. Bradley comes in with a 3.69 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 114.2 innings. Kirby is at a 3.98 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 120.0 innings, which is not dominant, but it is good enough for an under if he avoids the one bad inning.
The Bradley side is the part I like most. His recent Kansas City start was six innings, 10 strikeouts, three hits, and two earned runs. That is the kind of start this ticket needs because it keeps Seattle from stacking early balls in play and forces the game to move. If Bradley is missing bats again, seven starts feeling like a real ceiling instead of a soft opener.
The ugly Kirby start is sitting right there. He was tagged at Texas for seven runs in four innings in his most recent cited outing, so I get why the first reaction is to hate an under with him attached. I’m not ignoring it, I’m just not letting one blowup erase 120 innings of a sub-4 ERA. If Kirby looks anything like the guy behind that full season line, Minnesota has to work for multiple-run innings.
The game right before this finished 4-3, and that matters because it never became the loose, back-and-forth mess that kills a 7. Minnesota had only one hit through the first four innings in that game. Seattle won, but it was still a grind to get there. I do not want to overrate one box score, but the immediate series feel was not easy offense.
The runners-in-scoring-position numbers were ugly on both sides. Minnesota went 0-for-7 there, Seattle went 1-for-12, and Seattle still left 11 men on base in the 4-3 win. Some of that is variance, sure. I just do not want to bet over 7 when the previous game needed that many chances and still landed on seven total runs.
T-Mobile Park is listed with a retractable roof condition for this game. That does not mean I get to invent a park edge, but it also keeps me from paying for a wind-driven over story that is not in the handicap. With this total sitting at 7, I want the cleaner side of the evidence: two listed starters, a tight series game right behind them, and no need to chase weather.
The obvious risk is Kirby. If the Texas version shows up again, this under can be in trouble before the bullpens matter. There is also a Seattle bullpen wrinkle after Andres Muñoz worked his first multi-inning outing of the season in the previous game, so I do not want to pretend the late innings are clean. The under needs Kirby to steady himself and Bradley to keep Seattle from turning early baserunners into damage.
This is a tight number, and I would not talk anyone into chasing it if the price got worse. At -105, I can live with the squeeze because Bradley brings the stronger recent starter signal, Kirby’s full season is better than his last start, and the last game showed both offenses wasting chances instead of cashing everything. I’m not asking for a perfect pitcher’s duel. I’m asking for competent starter innings and fewer cheap runs than this number allows. Under 7, -105.
