Boston is the uncomfortable part of this ticket. The Sox are hot, Ranger Suarez is good enough to make this annoying, and I am not treating the road side like dead money. I still want Dodgers ML at -125 because this number is lighter than the matchup usually asks me to pay at home.
Suarez came back Sunday and gave Boston four scoreless innings against Toronto, allowing four hits with six strikeouts on 64 pitches. That is a good outing, not a full-workload statement. I respect the arm, but I do not want to pay Boston prices as if he is automatically giving them a clean, deep start in Los Angeles.
There is no need to fake a fade here. Suarez is listed at 4-3 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 95.1 innings, so the Dodgers are not getting some gas-can starter gift. The bet is more about price and game shape than pretending Boston has the wrong pitcher on the mound.
The Dodgers are set for a bullpen game, with Edgardo Henriquez expected to handle the opening inning. That adds some uncertainty, and the moneyline reflects it. At -125, I am not being forced to pay a premium number for a traditional starter setup that is not actually there.
Henriquez is listed at 4-1 with a 2.79 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 42.0 innings. That matters because the opening piece of this bullpen game is not a pure shrug. I still need the rest of the Dodgers pitching plan to hold up, but the first inning is not the spot that scares me off the home side.
The best argument against this ticket is Boston’s form. The Red Sox are listed at 20-3 since July 3 and 25-5 since June 25, and they just came off a 5-4 road win over the Athletics with back-to-back eighth-inning homers from Wilyer Abreu and Willson Contreras. That is not noise I want to ignore, but it also helps explain why this Dodgers number is still manageable.
Boston comes in at 57-51, while Los Angeles is listed at 69-40. I do not need that to mean the Dodgers are automatically better for one night, but it does matter when the moneyline is sitting in this range. If I can get the better overall home team without laying a heavy price, I am interested.
The working number here is Dodgers ML -125. A public game board also has Los Angeles listed around -132, so -125 is the cleaner entry without turning this into a chase. I would be less interested if this climbed into a bigger favorite tax, but this price leaves enough room for the bullpen-game risk.
Boston can break this if Suarez stretches his return into real length and the Red Sox keep carrying that late-inning power. Their recent win was exactly that kind of game, tight early, then flipped late. That is the sweat on this ticket, and it is why I am not treating the Dodgers like a free square.
I am taking Dodgers ML at -125. Suarez is good, Boston is hot, and the bullpen-game setup adds risk, but the price is still light enough for the home side with the stronger overall profile. I do not need Los Angeles to dominate this. I need the Dodgers to make the fair home number hold. Dodgers ML -125.
