First five only for me here. Arizona and St. Louis both hand this to starters with enough current form to keep the early number honest, and I do not need the bullpens involved to make the case.
Michael McGreevy is the cleanest reason I can get to F5 Under 4.5 at -110. His season line sits at a 2.92 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP across 108 innings, and the recent run is even tighter with five total runs, four earned, allowed over his last four starts. That gives St. Louis a real chance to keep the Arizona half of this total quiet early.
Brandon Pfaadt is not carrying the same full-season run prevention profile as McGreevy, but the recent matchup matters. In his last start, he faced St. Louis and gave them 5 1/3 innings of two-run ball with three strikeouts. For an F5 under, I do not need dominance from Pfaadt. I need him to avoid the blowup, and he just showed this specific matchup can stay manageable.
F5 Under 4.5 is a different conversation than asking these teams to stay quiet for nine innings. This ticket only needs the first five frames to avoid getting to five runs, and that lines up with the two probable starters being the main handicap. At -110, I am paying a standard price for the part of the game where the starting pitching edge actually matters most.
Arizona’s full-season batting profile sits at 4.37 runs per game with a .237 average, .308 OBP, .387 slugging mark, and .694 OPS through 99 games. That is not dead, but it is not a profile that makes me run from a first-five under against McGreevy’s current form. If the D-backs get to him, I would rather make them earn it early than price this like a free over.
St. Louis has the better pitching anchor in this matchup, but the Cardinals still need early offense to break this number. Their listed year-to-date split showed a .225 average, .318 OBP, .364 slugging mark, and .682 OPS. That gives Pfaadt enough room to work if he is around the zone and not handing out free baserunners before the middle innings.
This is a one-off makeup game at Busch Stadium after the June 25 postponement, with both teams coming off games on July 22. I do not want to stretch that into some fake travel angle or clubhouse read. The useful part is simpler: this is a weird single-game spot, and I would rather isolate the first five than let late bullpen handling decide the wager.
The listed game conditions are around 80 degrees with no precipitation and a light east wind around 6 mph. That is not enough for me to treat the park setup as a reason to chase early runs. With this price and these starters, I am fine making the offenses prove it instead of assuming the environment bails out an over.
The obvious objection is Pfaadt. A 4.58 ERA and 1.305 WHIP means he has not been automatic, and that is the part that can wreck this before the ticket gets comfortable. If St. Louis sees him better the second time in a short span or turns early baserunners into a crooked first or second inning, the under is in trouble fast.
I am taking F5 Under 4.5 at -110. McGreevy’s current form is the anchor, Pfaadt has a recent two-run look against this same St. Louis offense, and the first-five market keeps the bet away from the late innings. I do not need a masterpiece. I need five early innings where the starters are more annoying than the offenses, and that is playable at this number.
