Patrick is listed to start for Milwaukee with a 2.35 ERA through 23 innings. Merrill Kelly is listed for Arizona at a 9.31 ERA with a 2.28 WHIP through 9.2 innings.

That is the clearest edge on the board. Kelly has already allowed 4 home runs and walked 7 in that small sample, which is exactly how a favorite creates separation without needing a huge offensive night.

Milwaukee still has enough table-setting at the top

Brice Turang has been productive with an .854 OPS, 20 runs scored and 7 steals. William Contreras is also steady in the middle at a .720 OPS.

The Brewers do not need a perfect lineup to win this price. They just need enough traffic against a starter who has not handled any traffic cleanly so far.

Arizona is not walking in at full strength

Gabriel Moreno is on the injured list, Geraldo Perdomo is day to day, and Zac Gallen is also day to day. Corbin Carroll is still dangerous with a .952 OPS, but the card around him is not at full strength.

That matters more on the road against the better starter. If the top-end production does not come from Carroll, the Diamondbacks can get thin fast.

Decision

Brewers ML is playable because Patrick has been the steadier arm, Kelly's current numbers are rough across the board, and the market is already sitting Milwaukee around -130 at home. Milwaukee also took two of three in this season series.

This sets up like the kind of favorite that does not need margin. It just needs the better starter to hold.
