Misiorowski is the scary name here. I get why the first instinct is to start there. I am still taking the extra run with the Angels at a plus price.
Jacob Misiorowski comes in with a 1.58 ERA, a 0.75 WHIP, and 185 strikeouts across 120 innings. That is not a soft matchup. The case for Angels +1.5 at +115 is not pretending he is ordinary, it is pricing in that he can be excellent and the Angels can still stay inside the run line.
Walbert Urena has a 2.70 ERA through 93.1 innings, and that matters a lot more than the team logos here. I do not need him to outpitch Misiorowski straight up. I need him to avoid the ugly inning and keep this game in the range where +1.5 has teeth.
Misiorowski’s last seven starts are filthy: 1.71 ERA, 69 strikeouts, and a 0.64 WHIP over 42 innings. That is the counter sitting right in the middle of the bet. Urena’s last seven are not in that class, but a 3.08 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 38 innings is still enough to keep me from laying the run and a half with Milwaukee here.
Angels +1.5 at +115 is the part I care about. If this were a juiced run line, I would have a harder time stepping in front of Misiorowski. At plus money, I am getting the most common underdog cushion without needing the Angels to win the game outright.
Milwaukee’s offense has the cleaner season profile with 514 runs through 102 games, a .336 OBP, and a .733 OPS. The Angels are behind that at 442 runs and a .704 OPS. That gap is real, which is why I am not asking Los Angeles to be the better team for nine innings, but it does not automatically make the Brewers the right side through -1.5.
This is not a bet on Los Angeles turning the game into a track meet. It is a bet that one or two scoring chances can be enough if Urena keeps the first half of the game clean. Against an arm like Misiorowski, that is a thin ask, but the run line lets me live with a 3-2 or 4-3 type of game.
The Brewers also carry the better team pitching profile, with a 3.44 ERA and 1.16 WHIP through 102 games. The Angels sit at 4.60 and 1.38, so I am not ignoring the late-game risk. If this gets into a bullpen comparison with Milwaukee already ahead, the ticket can get sweaty fast.
The cleanest way this loses is simple: Misiorowski misses bats, Urena gives up too many baserunners, and Milwaukee turns a tight game into a multi-run lead before the Angels can answer. Milwaukee already showed it can control this matchup with pitching in a 3-1 win on Aug. 1. If the Angels’ bats stay quiet again, the extra run may not be enough.
Misiorowski is the problem, and I am not trying to talk around that. Urena’s season line and recent form give Los Angeles enough of a case to take the run instead of asking for the upset. Angels +1.5, +115.
